KPV research: what the studies have looked at
This page summarises the published research on KPV, for reference. It states what each study investigated and in what model, not an effect to expect, and it is not medical advice. KPV has been studied only in laboratory cell and animal models; what we supply is a research chemical for laboratory use only.
What KPV is
KPV is a tripeptide (lysine-proline-valine) that corresponds to the C-terminal fragment of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH). It has been studied in cell and animal models of inflammation. It has not been approved as a medicine and has not been tested in human trials.
What the studies investigated
Dalmasso et al. (2008), Gastroenterology 134(1):166. Human cell lines and mouse colitis. Investigated cellular uptake through the PepT1 transporter and inflammatory signalling Source.
Kannengiesser et al. (2008), Inflammatory Bowel Diseases 14(3):324. Mouse colitis. Investigated anti-inflammatory activity, partly independent of the melanocortin-1 receptor Source.
Getting et al. (2003), Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics 306(2):631. Mouse peritonitis. Investigated the anti-inflammatory response in a peritonitis model Source.
Mechanism, as described in the literature
The literature describes KPV as an anti-inflammatory fragment of alpha-MSH, reported to be taken up by intestinal cells through the PepT1 transporter and to dampen inflammatory signalling in cell lines and in mouse models of colitis and peritonitis, in part independently of the melanocortin-1 receptor. All of the cited work is preclinical.
The material we supply
We supply KPV as a research chemical, released against a written specification with a batch certificate of analysis. It is not a medicine and is not for human or animal use. For the vial sizes, the price per mg and how to order, see the KPV compound page; the COA lookup pulls the certificate for any batch. The references above link to each study’s record; this summary is for research and educational reference only.
