TB-500 research: what the studies have looked at
This page summarises the published research around TB-500 and the protein it is related to, thymosin beta-4, for reference. It sets out what each study investigated and in what model, not an outcome for any person, and it is not medical advice. TB-500 is not an approved medicine; what we supply is a research chemical for laboratory use only.
What TB-500 is, and what it is not
There is a naming point worth getting right. Thymosin beta-4 is a natural 43-amino-acid protein that binds actin inside cells. "TB-500" is a name used in the research-chemical market, often for a shorter synthetic fragment, and it should not be assumed identical to the full protein studied in clinical work. Where human trials exist, they used a defined clinical formulation of thymosin beta-4, for example the eye-drop candidate RGN-259, not a generic "TB-500" powder. We flag this because it changes how the studies below should be read. Note as well that thymosin beta-4 and its fragments are on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s prohibited list, which matters in any sports context.
What the studies investigated
Sosne et al. (2023), International Journal of Molecular Sciences 24(1):554. Human, phase-3, neurotrophic keratopathy (RGN-259). Investigated corneal healing with a thymosin beta-4 eye drop against placebo Source.
Kim and Kwon (2014), Biochimica et Biophysica Acta 1840(12):3452-3459. Mouse, diabetic burn wound. Investigated wound closure and associated angiogenic and inflammatory markers Source.
Goldstein et al. (2012), Expert Opinion on Biological Therapy 12(1):37-51. Review. Reviewed thymosin beta-4 biology, including actin binding, cell migration and angiogenesis Source.
Mechanism, as described in the literature
The literature describes thymosin beta-4’s core biochemical role as sequestering actin, which links it to cell migration, and reports associated effects on new blood-vessel formation and inflammation in animal and eye-tissue models. The clinical work that exists is largely in ophthalmology with a defined formulation; broader systemic claims made for "TB-500" rest on animal data. As above, the eye-drop trials should not be read as evidence for a research powder used any other way.
The material we supply
We supply TB-500 as a research chemical, released against a written specification with a batch certificate of analysis. It is not a medicine and is not for human or animal use. For the vial sizes, the price per mg and how to order, see where to buy TB-500 wholesale; the COA lookup pulls the certificate for any batch. The references above link to each study’s record; this summary is for research and educational reference only.
